BTW, I tied 32 and 64-bit Win7, they both did OK, I remain with 64bit for now. Explorer hangs and then freezes Windows 7 home-built desktop freezes after a few minutes, unless in safe mode. I'm unsure what to do, as I can't really try to do anything when it boots.... Next I did a physical hardware check. Really infuriating... Pulled out the WiFi card and ran a cable direct to the router, hasn't frozen since. This will help to rule out a software problem.

To check for malware, boot to Safe Mode and do a full system scan.
