Check RAM is properly installed - and ideally (with all power removed entirely - no mains cable attached) remove RAM sticks, and clean the edge contacts with a soft pencil eraser. Unfortunately just a second after that screen turned blank and stayed so. Most of the time, I would end up with the PC locking up after it had copied the XP install files and was to switch to the install program's graphical interface. I don't have the ability to burn a recovery disk, but I do have original Windows XP installation disks. Ask a question and give support.
